The Kazakh's live in the mountain range of Northern China and Southwestern part of Mongolia in the Altai Mountains.  One of their past time is the tug of war.  This is a 6,000 year old tradition played on horseback using a sheep, goat, or fox pelt as the rope.  A sheep is used here that weighs 40kg (approximately 90lbs).  The contest demonstrates the contestant's agility on horseback, strength and technique for the sport.  This series of photos were taken at different contests in the regions.
